Membership Benefits

  • International recognition of scholastic achievement in economics.

  • Free access to The American Economist, ODE’s journal.

  • ODE sponsored meetings at the annual conventions of regional, national and international associations.

  • Eligibility to compete for the ODE Undergraduate Research and ODE Graduate Research Awards (both cash prizes and publication of papers).

  • Eligibility to compete for ODE's Outstanding Student Leader Award.

 

Eligibility Requirements

In order to be an initiated member, you must have:

  • 3.0 GPA or above overall

  • 3.3 GPA or above in economics

  • At least 12 units in USC economics courses

* Students do not have to be economics majors, but must meet the above requirements.

If you have not satisfied one or more of these requirements, you may still join ODE as an uninitiated member. While you will not receive the full benefits that comes with the national organization, you will have access to all our Chapter's programs, workshops, social events, and resources. We encourage all underclassmen to apply!

Membership Fees

Membership fees consist of the following:

  • A $40 one-time initiation fee we send to ODE's headquarters.

  • A $20 one-time local chapter fee to support ongoing events and activities.

As an uninitiated member, you are required to pay the $20 local chapter fee, but payment of the ODE initiation fee may be deferred until all eligibility requirements are met.
